1.) WHAT DO I WEAR? 

Well there are two things to think about here - ask yourself 1.) Is it comfortable, and 2.) Is it water friendly? If you answered yes, you're good to go. Bikinis, board shorts, athletic gear, quick-dry stuff - totally up to you. Shoes aren't necessary. In fact, we discourage the wearing of shoes in general. Your balance will be better without, not to mention - it's been a long winter - your toes want out. Sunglasses are probably a good idea and sunscreen is highly recommended. We'll carry some at the shack if you forget! Anything safety related (PFD'S, leashes, etc.) will be provided unless otherwise specified.

2.) WHAT SHOULD I BRING? 

A little courage, a sense of humor and maybe a change of clothes. We'll provide all the gear and the bad jokes.

3.) WILL THERE BE A PLACE TO CHANGE? 

Yes. In the basement of our neighboring YMCA just two buildings from our location. 

4.) HOW DO WE PAY? 

Cash or credit/debit card is fine. And yes we take AMEX! Payment is taken prior to the start of class. We also accept compliments and baked, gooey goodies.

5.) HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR/RESERVE A SPOT FOR CLASSES

You must call 315-777-5357. We'll take your card information to hold your spot. We will not charge it until you get there. If you don't show up (without giving 24 hour notice) you will be charged.

6.) CAN I JUST SHOW UP TO CLASS? 

Yes, but we prefer to reserve spots because classes do fill up! We'll do our very best to squeeze everyone in, but we want to make sure everyone is comfortable and within ear shot of the instructor. This will ensure that each paddler gets the attention and direction they need.

7.) WHAT IS THE WATER TEMPERATURE? 

Average water temperatures are as follows: May: 54, June: 65, July: 75, August: 77,  September: 72, October: 59

8.) ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS? 

Yes. You must be 18 or older to rent, and 8 years or older for classes (parent or guardian must take classes with you). Keep in mind that if you are under the age of 18 and you wish to take a class, your parent or guardian must sign your Release of Liability Waiver.

9.) WILL THERE BE SNACKS? 

Finally the question on everyone's brain. On occasion, we might provide a healthy, homemade snack to paddlers. So the short answer is, not really. HOWEVER IF we may offer a suggestion or two - Sackets Harbor is full of delicious, locally run eateries. Check out Main Street, too. Much to see and EAT. One of our personal favorites is The Hops Spot. Cheese. Craft Beer. Poutine. Patio. Yes!

10.) DO I HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM?

The ability to swim is not required, however if you are especially apprehensive in or around water, please let us know.

11.) IS THIS SAFE? 

Stand up Paddleboarding is full of adventure and excitement. As with any outdoor sport, there are inherent risks involved in Stand up Paddleboarding and there are factors that are beyond our control. You will be asked to acknowledge this by signing a release of liability waiver before your class. Please know that we are committed to delivering the safest, most comfortable SUP experience possible.

12.) BUT WHAT IS IN THE WATER? 

There is nothing in Lake Ontario that will hurt you. Seaweed. Fish. The occasional turtle/snake and a handful of freshwater sharks. But I hear they prefer jet skiers.
